IN LOVING MEMORY OF KATHRYN CHASTAIN-TREAT, #RRBC

IMG_2869_1

Kathryn C. Treat passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 @ 2:20 am (California time).  On Friday, Dec. 19, after having a wonderful time at our virtual Christmas party, in a virtual chat room with her fellow RRBC VIP Lounge members, Kathryn informed us that she was not feeling well and that she was going to leave.  Shortly thereafter, she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and then lapsed into a coma.

Kathryn was an honorary board member of the Rave Reviews Book Club, where she served as Membership Director from Dec. 2013, until September, 2014.  Kathryn is the author of  “ALLERGIC TO LIFE.”   She inspired and encouraged many with this book so if you have not had the pleasure of reading it, please head to Amazon and get your copy.

Allergic To Life cover

Kathryn was a dedicated member of RRBC until her passing and she was one of the most supportive members we had…not just to one, but to all.  Kathryn leaves to mourn her husband, her mother, her two daughters, a son-in-law and three grand-kids (who she adored more than life), as well as her entire RRBC family.

Let us remember Kathryn and honor her memory by always being kind to one another and by always offering our support to another.  It’s what she did.  It’s how she lived.  It’s who she was.  If Kathryn touched your life in anyway, please share your memories and comments below.

{This was my Christmas present from Kathryn.  It’s also hanging over my desk. She made this and at the bottom, there is a label that reads:  “Made with Love by Kathryn Treat.”}

{I will try to share as many memories of Kathryn here as I can.  Here’s her handwriting.  You know we can learn a lot about someone from their handwriting, and because we never get to touch the hands of these “friends,” this just brings them a little closer to us
This is my XMas card this yr. she sent to me.  Very personal.  Thank goodness I save “little” things that typically always turn out to be “big” things}

  5. I met Kathryn when she was sitting on Nonnie’s bench and connected with her at once–since we shared similar ailments. I’m shocked and saddened to hear of her untimely passing, and while Heaven gains an angel, we lose a wonderful friend and fellow writer. I really can’t get it into my head that she’s actually gone –before I got to know her really well.

  9. Kathryn was so supportive. She was the first person to enter my very first book giveaway and though that might seem small, as a new author it meant a lot. Not only that, she won! She always had a positive word to say to people and I’m sure we are all feeling her loss. I always knew I’d find something in my timeline that would make me smile and now there’s a big Kathryn shaped hole in it. My prayers and thoughts are with all her friends and family. She was a class act. A damn fine woman. Rest in peace lovely x

  26. This is one of those times when “rest in peace” has special meaning. Kathryn struggled so much.

    Yet I am shocked and sad to hear this news today. I never met Kathryn, but her account of her struggles moved me every time I read about her. Her determination, her faith, her spirit. Just to live a daily life must have taken so much from her, yet she persevered, and shared a strong spirit with the rest of us.

    Thank you, Kathryn, for the blessing you gave to all the rest of us who struggle with one painful thing or the other.
    I am so glad you pushed through and wrote your book.

    My condolences to all who loved you.

    Thank you, Nonnie, for this post.

  27. Kathryn was a caring and brave lady who endured far more during her life than many of us can even imagine, yet she did it with dignity and grace. In spite of all her own problems with her illness she always found time to support others and give them an encouraging word or help them in their need. I was completely amazed by her book, and for those who have not read it, I highly recommend they do so. Not only does the book shed light on a terrible, debilitating disease, but it is also an open door to the dear lady’s soul. Once you’ve read her story, you feel as if you really know her and have for years. A great read by a great lady who will be missed by friends and family for a very long time to come. My condolences to her family and to all who knew and loved her.

  28. Nonnie: I was shocked when Kathy’s daughter Laura told me that Kathy had passed. Kathy was such a dear and supportive friend to me since our meeting at Dr. Rea’s clinic in Dallas in January 2003. You know that I joined RRBC when Kathy invited me to participate. I will always associate you and RRBC with Kathy. I posted a tribute to Kathy on my blog last night. Here is the link http://jsherwinblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/21/kathryn-c-treat-daughter-sister-wife-mother-grandmother-author-and-loving-friend-rip/.

    Thank you, Nonnie, for this wonderful and supportive group at RRBC. Blessings to everyone. Jennie Sherwin

  30. Kathryn was such an amazing support to all authors in RRBC and everywhere! You couldn’t help but like her, she was always kind and despite feeling tired and worn out from all that her allergies put her through she would soldier on and do her part. Kathryn would never let you down. I have had the pleasure of working with her and she was one of the most easygoing people to team up with, I could feel her kind spirit through her words. Though we never met in person, I consider Kathryn a friend and will miss her brightness dearly. God bless sweet lady, you are a treasure. xxx

    Dear Kathryn, I admire your strength and courage under such trying circumstances. You fought this fight for a long time and your body just got tired. I was introduced to you by Nonnie Jules, my special twitter friend. Your book caught my eye because of my own health issues. We all became a twitter family before RRBC and we were on the board together in the beginning. We worked together during the early stages of tweet support for Rave Reviews Book Club and enjoyed each other’s sense of humor. You were always there for all of us and I’m going to miss that about you. I’m glad I got to know you and you will have a special place in my memory. I love you. Rest in Peace my Friend.

  49. Kathryn was the friendliest person I have met here on Rave Reviews. You could always count on her leaving an encouraging word everywhere–blogs, tweets, and comments for everyone. When I read her book, I was amazed at how much she endured with her illness. But she persevered, always remaining hopeful that things would get better. I could not have endured even a fraction of the horrors of her illness. She will be missed. I send my prayers to her family that they endure and remember the best of Kathryn’s life.

  50. It is done! When I read your book Kathryn, I wondered how any human body could undergo what your body underwent, and survive, but your body did, and God kept you alive long enough for you to be a testimony to His wonderful love. He used you to teach us perseverance, patience,and above all trust in God. You life was a big gift of God to us. And now, you have finished the race, and gone to rest. Rest in perfect peace, my friend, and may God give your family the will and peace to thank God for your life. They must not cry for your loss, they should celebrate your bravery, your endurance, and your gift of love that you shared with them. Addio Kathryn. May your soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
