ABOUT RAVE REVIEWS…

Hi, and welcome to “Rave Reviews by Nonnie Jules” and “RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB!”

Rave Reviews by Nonnie Jules is a site designed specifically for the purpose of introducing the world to some really good reads.  After having read so many books that had been given high marks, yet weren’t deserving of those marks, Nonnie wanted to offer a forum where readers could come and trust that the reviews of the books posted were truly HONEST.   If you would like to have your book(s) reviewed by her, please submit your request by clicking here.

RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB is a virtual book club made up of authors and readers. The reviews of the Book Club members are not necessarily the same as the reviews of the author, Nonnie Jules, and vice versa.  We encourage each of you to JOIN, especially if you are an author, as we expect  (although we cannot guarantee) that the books we select, will be  profiled and hopefully propelled to new heights via the support of the club. The more members of the club, the more successful and stronger our collective voices will be.  For more info on the club, please visit our FAQ page.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

For those of you who are new to book clubs, here is how this one works:  Once the club has made selections (our selections are posted over to the right), members are encouraged to get their copy of the selected books, read and then post their reviews on Amazon, B&N.com or whatever  forum they use for reviews.  Then, once the club meets on it’s scheduled meeting date, all members are invited to join in the discussion.  When circumstances allow, the author will also be apart of the discussion for Q & A.  Please be mindful of the club’s selections, as it is our hope to support, and propel the awareness and sales of each author during their selection period.

{The Mission and goal of RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB is to Profile, Promote & Propel the careers of Indie authors.  The only way that WE can do that, is by supporting each of our authors with book sales and HONEST reviews.  If you are an individual who is in the habit of skimming through the FREE sample that is given by Amazon, and then “claiming” to have purchased and read, this may not be the club for you.  We encourage and hope that each of our members will run out and “PURCHASE” (either in e-book or paperback format) the selected author’s books AND when finished with the complete read, post an honest review.  When it is your turn and your book is in that wonderful seat of being Profiled, Promoted & Propelled, you will want the same courtesy extended to you.  We proudly work on the HONORS SYSTEM here at #RRBC}.

Our mantra at RRBC is those that are most supportive here, are the ones who are most supported here.  Those who are expecting to add their name to our roster and then just disappear without making any connections within the club, or without supporting any of their fellow members, probably won’t get out of it, what they are expecting.  What you put in here, is what you’ll get out here.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please support Indie authors and help us to bring books back and encourage more reading by re-tweeting on Twitter and sharing this page on Facebook and your other social media sites.

We look forward to your support and your membership.  Do tell your friends about us!!!

  1. Hi there Diane 😀 A reminder about where to keep us up to date with your reviewing activity and not get it lost in the mix…

PLEASE POST YOUR PURCHASES, READS AND REVIEWS ON THE MAIN ‘BOOK CLUB SELECTIONS FOR REVIEW PAGE’. THANK YOU!

The reason for this is that Beem’s spread pretty thin and if you post away from the main page he may not pick up that you’ve done the review and so you won’t get credited for it…

BE SURE TO EMAIL BEEM at ravereviewsbookclub@gmail.com as well as sharing your reviews on the MAIN CATALOG page – that way your efforts won’t be missed! 😉

  2. Purchased and reviewed Silevethiel by Andi O’Connor.
Andi O’Connor has created a world that lovers of Elfin Lore may indeed enjoy inhabiting for awhile. O’Connor’s book is very detailed and layered. She has shown us a believable world and is most skillful there. She has created characters that are likable…or appropriately not so. I would say the well-deserved glowing reviews she has received represent those most enthusiastic about the detail. My impressions are probably more from the type of reader who wants less detail and more action. Either way, O’Connor is very good at what she does and it’s a worthy book, a worthy read. It sets up a trilogy that promises an interesting adventure. I rather marvel at those who not only paint such a detailed plot and relatable characters, but also create the very worlds they exist in. O’Connor has that scope. I would give her nearly four and that would be more accurate, but I can’t seem to make that happen (technologically speaking). However for this reader I just didn’t get as engaged as I’d hoped and that is possibly more my fault than hers.

    1. The best thing I can tell you is be creative. People are used to the SSDD so talk about locations and characters in your book(s) and never be afraid to retweet on twitter. The more people see you retweet, the more they will retweet you.

    2. Hi Rachel. I use Twitter, & it’s by far my favorite. I strongly recommend it. I do use a few other social media platforms but for me, they’re not as much fun.

    3. Hi Rachel – sorry I missed this one until now! If you’d like some inspiration about tweeting – most of the club supports happens on Twitter – then take a look at our Tweet Support Team page and also the What RRBC Has Done for Me tab to see what other people have been up to 😀
It’s much more fun if you join in and you get to meet lots of new friends too! 🙂

  4. Thank you, Diane, for your wonderful comments abut The Doom Murders. I am quite overwhelmed by your positive response. It is a pity that the version you read was the earlier, unedited one. The book has since been re-edited and re-posted. It is also to be published soon in paperback by a US publisher. The Publisher tells me that her editor is ‘the best’, so, I’m delighted to say, the book is going to get another make-over, this time by a professional.

  5. I just wanted to thank you guys again! Because of you I am blogging regularly once more. I set up an author’s fan page on FB because you guys showed me by your examples that a serious author embraces all social media.
I am grateful to those of you who actively supported me. Your support made others curious enough to look at my blog, Boomacious.com. I had completed only half a book when I joined RRBC, but during my MOW week, I added two new chapters and I #amwriting again! Who knows. One day I may be sitting ‘On The Shelf with Nonnie’!
What I think motivated me the most was a private email from Nonnie where she hinted that she saw some talent in my writing. I hope all of you know what we have and how far it can take us! THANKS!

      1. I still have your instructions for copying the review permalink, and using the URL shortener. I add that to every email to Beem, and post it on the correct review page. I have noticed that many people either don’t post a link at all, or it’s long and clumsy. Time for a reminder of how to do it perhaps? It did take me a couple of goes, following your instructions carefully: once you get the hang of it, it takes a minute, maximum. It helps Beem, and it’s useful if you want to tweet your review.
We do have a lot of new members who won’t have seen your original post: a lot judging by the PushTuesday email I’ve just received 🙂

I do periodically re-post the ‘where you should be sending your purchase/read/review stats’ on the more ‘popular wrong places’ across the site when I’m ‘hall monitoring’ so it’s the top post people see when they’re finished looking at the page info, so I’ll be making sure it’s prominent again in anticipation/response of all newbies and visitors to our hallowed halls for this PUSHWEEK 😉

    1. Thanks Marc for highlighting something that’s been a concern for this page for a while – the information is actually all up there in the main part of the page, but perhaps it needs a bit of a spruce up so that some of the highlights look more, erm… ‘highlighted’?

As this is the ‘go to’ page for new members and visitors alike, it’s important that we make it welcoming and inviting. Part of that whole package involves a bit of ‘way-finding’ so you get some idea of what’s going on and where to find it. Be sure that we’re always looking at ways to make the various Rave Reviews ‘gateways’ attractive and easy to use and helpful pointers like yours will go a long way to making improvements fast.

As for being supportive – you’ve got that sussed already 😀 Bottom line is that you read and review and get involved – something Rave Reviews people are ALWAYS great at! 😉
