Lovely show today, Wendy and Gracie! I enjoyed listening to Gracie talk about her travels, frog collection and vast experience with children coping with horrible diseases. I Believe that if kids are drawn to you, it means that you were born to work with them. You obviously observed them well and got into their heads in order to write your book, June The Prune & Lady Bird. I used to collect roosters and pineapples. I have all sorts of things with pineapples printed, embroidered or etched on them. 😉

I listened to the show and really enjoyed it. How your characters take on a life of their own and take over. I have heard so many writers say that and it’s fascinating.
Congrats Vashti! Wendy, you did good.

Hello Shirley! Thank you for listening to the show and for your lovely comment. I’m happy you enjoyed the interview. The process always amazes me too! You start off with a certain plan for your character but then somewhere along the way you (the writer) lose complete control and the character takes the reins.✍️😊

Vashti, I write non-fiction and that is another kind of challenge. Even though you are writing your truth, you still have to engage your readers without embellishing the story. I got stuck as to how to move forward, went to bed obsessing over it, and during my sleep an idea emerged. I woke up and ran to the computer to jot it down because, being a dream, I was afraid I would lose it.
Also you know when you write something, that if it hits just the right cord; if it is said in just the right way; that you can relax knowing you made a little bit of an achievement that day using the power of words .
That is awesome.

I had been anxiously anticipating this show. I was practicing aloud in front of the mirror and everything. Then everything that could go wrong went wrong this morning. I woke up with a fever, scratchy throat and headache, there was something wrong with my phone and I couldn’t call out, and as if that wasn’t enough, my next door neighbor was working on his fence, making a huge racket that prompted my dog to bark excessively! Thank God, everything got resolved within 30 minutes before the show, but by that time I was a nervous wreck. Talking to Wendy and Jan before the show helped ease my nerves. Wendy is a fantastic host! She did such a great job! I enjoyed the show very much. I hope no one minded my croaky voice and occasional coughing. Sorry about that. Thank you, ‘peanut gallery’ on Twitter for your wonderful questions and comments! Thanks for being the show’s sponsor, Nonnie! ❤ xx
