Welcome to the all new annual KCT INTERNATIONAL LITERARY AWARD”

This award is carrying the namesake of our dearly departed Kathryn C. Treat, who loved great literature.  Her book was an excellent read and she expected the same from the work of others.  This award will be the highest honor your book could receive in the literary field, as unlike many of the other literary awards around today, it will be judged by the highest of standards.  We hope that you will enter your work so that your book can have the bragging rights of being a “TREAT” Award Winner!  When someone sees that award affixed to your book (whether as a 1st Place Gold Winner or even a Silver Award Finalist), they will know without a shadow of any doubt, that it is a really great read, and one worthy of their time and money!

1st Place Gold & Prize Package Winner, and all finalists will now be announced October 16th, due to the recent flooding and Hurricane disasters.   One of our judges was greatly impacted by Hurricane Irma and so we want to ensure that each entry receives the proper attention in its goal of being named as winner in the KCT International Literary Awards Contest.

Guidelines:
-Complete and submit Registration Form below;
-Pay your non-refundable $18 entry/reading fee, by clicking HERE;
-Submit via Amazon gift card, a copy of your book to RRBCInfo@gmail.com. If you are not in the U.S. or are unable to gift a copy of your Kindle e-book to us, please contact us at the same email address above for an alternative solution;
-Wait for confirmation and further information.

What the judges are looking for:
-Written works that have been properly edited and proofed;

-Great story-lines (we don’t want to fall asleep by page 6);

-Well-developed characters;

-Believability (perfect example: “A PERILOUS THIRST” is about a vampire, but while reading it, I thought he was just an average Joe who had walked into a bar. The author made me believe…)

-Story-lines that flow easily;

-All-in-all, we are searching for reads, that after having read Chapter one, compels us to continue reading to the very end. We don’t want to have to stop to jump over typos and misspelled words.  Nonnie writes in Nonnie-tongue, and I often share that “I write the way that I speak, and I speak very well,” so we are not opposed to you using your own language, but it MUST make sense!   We’re also not freaky about the rules of who follows who or what in the varying parts of speech (i.e. nouns, pronouns, adjectives, conjunctions, prepositions, etc).  I mean, c’mon, seriously? This is 2017.

I was an English nut in school, but I let that fall by the wayside when I became an adult, and was no longer being forced to think (and write) like everyone else. I became innovative in my writing, an independent thinker, and decided I’d speak the way I wanted to, as long as it made sense and I could carry out intelligent conversation…which, by the way, I do extremely well.  But, again, it all had to make sense!  You see, when our readers are reading our books, they don’t care about these things (unless they’re English nuts, which I still consider myself to be, but, I also love creativity and writing outside the box more than I love being that English nut).  What readers care about (the majority of the ones who aren’t English nuts), is that we’re giving them truly great reads!  And, that’s what we care about here!

There is nothing more gratifying than to be recognized by your peers because they truly understand both the agony and the ecstasy associated with the writing life. 26. I’ve got a book coming out on March 8th, 2017, The Enchanted Swans. It’s currently on pre-order for Amazon. Would it be better to send now as an ARC, or just wait until it releases and send it in then for consideration? Thank you!

  29. Thanks , Nonnie and our amazing team! What are the criteria for an excellent book? (I know this might sound daft, but I’m asking, nevertheless). 😳

    Like

    1. Hi, Maretha!

      In my humble opinion, an excellent book is well-edited, properly proofed, has well-developed characters, story-line flows easily and is not confusing (with the author’s thoughts all over the place), captures my attention early on so that I’m almost “forced” to read to the very end and has believability (see ‘WHAT THE JUDGES ARE LOOKING FOR’ above). Good writing is good writing, no matter how anyone wants to describe it, it is, what it is and cannot be tagged as anything other than that!

      Hope this helps!

    Like

    1. Hi, Michael! There is nothing we do here at RRBC that’s ALL about money. Never has been, never will be. There is a really huge prize package here, and this is the way that we will fund that prize package. After hearing from several members that they felt left out because their category/genre had been excluded, we have decided to open up a few more categories to give more of the titles in our catalog, the opportunity to win this AMAZING award. We still feel that most books can fit into at least one of the categories listed above. Enjoy your week!
